Technical description

Monoband Yagis are the ideal antennas if you want to achieve an optimum of gain and performance.

However, they have the disadvantage of requiring a lot of space. Such antennas also place high demands on the mast and rotor. An antenna can quickly weigh up to 100 kg - or as with the 80MDY2 even more (see technical data).

Another advantage with Yagis is the noticeable forward/backward ratio.

The installation is done by means of a clamp on the mast and above the antenna the guy wire is attached, if this is provided for the desired variant. Thus, the mast should always go 1-2m beyond the antenna.

The EAntenna MDY Yagis are delivered with mast clamps for 50 mm masts. The larger antennas of this series contain mast clamps for 65 mm masts.

Application description

10MDY4

The 4-element Yagi for 28 MHz is one of the smaller antennas of the series with a boom length of "only" 5 meters. Therefore it does not need any bracing of elements or boom. The gain over ground (e.g. when mounted at 20 m height) is remarkable 14.67 dBi.

11MDY3

This antenna was developed especially for the 11m CB band. There are 3 elements on the 3.8 meter short boom. A gain above ground (mounting height: 20m) of 14.15 dBi is achieved. No bracing is provided.

15MDY3

With a length of just under 5 meters, the 15MDY3 with 3 elements still fits on most row house roofs. Thanks to its compact dimensions, there is no provision for guy wires on this antenna. The gain over ground (at 20 m height) is 13.98 dBi.

15MDY4

Despite its length of 6.5 meters, this 4-element antenna does not require a guy wire, the boom is sufficiently dimensioned with 45 x 45 mm. Compared to the shorter version, the gain could be increased: 14.66 dBi at an installation height of about 20 meters.

20MDY3

With a length of more than 7 meters this 14 MHz Yagi is already not suitable for every row house roof. With its 3 elements, a gain of 14.26 dBi is achieved, based on an installation height of 20 meters above ground. With this antenna the boom is tensioned 2-fold. All guy wires are included.

20MDY4

If you need even more antenna gain on 20 (and have the necessary space), you can go for this almost 10 meter long, 4-element version. The gain is 14.59 dBi at an installation height of 20 meters above ground. The boom is 2-fold braced, the necessary bracing material is included.

30MDY2

The very narrow 30m band is known for its year-round DX possibilities. This 2-element Yagi with a length of only 3.6 m was created especially for this purpose. The compact design was consequently implemented also for the elements. Here extension coils ("traps") are used. The antenna can be mounted at the top of the mast, as no guy wire is required.

40MDY2

The smallest of the 7 MHz antennas in this series has 2 elements on a boom only 5.6 meters long.  The gain is 12 dBi at 20 meters above ground. For this antenna a 2-fold bracing of the boom as well as a bracing of the elements is provided. The material needed for this is of course included. The elements have coils to shorten the element lengths.

40MDY3

In this variant of the 7-MHz Yagis, 3 elements were placed on a 10-meter-long, 4-fold guyed boom. The elements equipped with extension coils are also guyed. All guy material is included. Gain: 12.2 dBi 20 meters above ground

40DMY3XL

With an impressive length of 11.4 meters, the 40MDY3XL is the largest 40m antenna in the MDY series. The boom is 4-way braced against sagging, the 3 elements without traps also have bracing. "XL" is here also the load capacity: this antenna can be loaded with up to 5000 watts transmit power, a corresponding balun is included.

80MDY2

This 2-element Yagi for 80 MHz weighs 140 kg. But this 10 meter long antenna provides a gain of 12 dBi at an installation height of 20 meters. All rigging material for stabilizing this heavyweight is included, as well as a balun for transmitting powers of up to 5000 watts.
