The Cobweb antenna is a antenna which is easy and fast to install for portable operations, designed by G3TPW.

The Cobweb antenna covers the five upper shortwave bands 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10m. One common balun feeds five dipoles which are folded in a roughly square shape, only one feedline is required. Due to the arrangement of the antenna elements and some ground effect the gain is slightly higher than for a dipole alone.

The antenna is built for a maximum power of 500W. The useable 2:1 SWR bandwidth covers a large part of each band. The frequency of the SWR minimum can be tuned by changing the length of the dipoles. Due to the square arrangement of the dipoles the overall size is very small, just 280 by 280 cm. Equally the wind surface is rather small, allowing a max. windspeed of 160 km/h. The base plate as well as the tube supporting the balun is made from aluminium, the tubes carrying the dipoles are made from glass fibre. The weight of the Cobweb is just 4.8 kg, this is convenient if the antenna is to be installed by a single person. A lightweight aluminium mast is sufficient to carry the antenna. These small sizes and the small packing size of 11 x 11 x 100 cm makes this antenna well suitable for vacations, fielddays, SOTA and other portable activities. Connector PL.
