WIMO Expert opinion

You enjoy the flexibility of controlling your transceiver from anywhere via the Internet or your local network - conveniently and without having to be physically on site. The setup and use is not very complicated, you can get started quickly without much technical preparation. You benefit from efficient network transmission that enables seamless integration into your station's automated processes. The remote control capability opens up completely new possibilities, including the ability to use one device with several people.
Some applications may require initial configuration or a certain level of technical understanding to realize the full potential of the device. With a pure network dependency, there is always the potential risk of network failures that could temporarily limit your control options.

Some transceivers need a complete PC to be controlled remotely via the Internet - with the FT-DX101, a small and power-saving interface - the SCU-LAN10 - is sufficient.

Yaesu has deliberately not included a network interface in its top-of-the-line transceivers in order to reduce the complexity of the software and also to keep the costs within reasonable limits. Instead, there is now an option for users who value convenient remote operation - without the need for a large computer at the remote location.

The SCU-LAN10 interface is connected to the FT-DX101D, FT-DX101MP or FT-DX10 via USB cable, and to the wider world it is connected via the Ethernet interface to the router in the house (cable not included). With a free PC software (Windows 7/8/10, 32- and 64-bit), remote access to the transceiver is possible from anywhere in the world - this can be the table next door or in the garden, but also the hotel room in another time zone. The advantage - you never miss a rare DX station again because you are travelling. Another possibility is for club stations that want to make the high-quality transceiver available to many members at the quiet remote location with large antennas.

Yaesu's 'PC Remote Control Software' offers operating possibilities as if you were sitting directly at the unit. A standard PC headset is required for operation. The PTT is operated by mouse. The large screen on the computer is used to excellent effect, as the division of the waterfall display of both bands can be cleverly combined and distributed with the controls. And if you only want to listen, the bandscope can also be displayed very large over the whole screen - certainly an eye-catcher for the next audience demonstration at the club!

Please note that to operate the SCU-LAN10 interface, the transceiver must be equipped with a current software (firmware) version, see manual.
